Sida is a government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world. Through their work and in cooperation with others, Sida contributes to implementing Sweden's Policy for Global Development.

U.S. Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor

Zcash Community Grants
The Zcash Community Grants (ZCG) program funds independent teams entering the Zcash ecosystem to perform major ongoing development (or other work) for the public good of the Zcash ecosystem. ZCG currently supports a project to create an implementation of the Tor protocols in Rust (called “Arti”).
Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation is an independent, nonprofit grant-making organization and for more than 80 years, it has worked with courageous people on the frontlines of social change worldwide. The Ford Foundation has made a general support grant to the Tor Project.
#StartSmall
#StartSmall is Jack Dorsey's philanthropic initiative to fund global crisis relief, girls health and education, and open internet development. Dorsey transferred $1 billion (28% of his wealth) to #StartSmall in 2020. #StartSmall has made a general support grant to the Tor Project.
Omidyar Network
Established by philanthropists Pam and Pierre Omidyar, Omidyar Network is a social change venture that has committed more than $1 billion to innovative for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations since 2004. Omidyar is supporting a project to publish user stories about the importance of encryption to support advocacy and educational efforts.

Open Society Foundations
The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, are the world's largest private funder of independent groups working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights. The Open Society Foundations support Tor's work to a) deliver digital safety and security trainings to human rights defenders, activists, journalists, former detainees, and the families of these communities in the MENA diaspora and b) enable Iranians to access the Tor network during censorship events.
Open Net Fund
OpenNet.fund (ONF) supports solutions that enable online privacy and provide open access to the Internet towards the overarching goal of improving the free flow of information and the freedom of expression online. ONF has provided a grant to make Tor infrastructure and tooling related to distributing bridges to users more agile, more sustainable, and more resilient against censorship.
OpenSats
Open Sats Initiative, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity which aims to fund Bitcoin-related and Nostr-related free and open-source projects and associated education and research initiatives. Open Sats provided a grant to support two onion service developers.
Power Up Privacy
Power Up Privacy is an advocacy group that funds privacy-related research and development projects. They seek to make maximum impact by identifying key, underfunded areas in the privacy software ecosystem and injecting resources, financial and otherwise, in order to strengthen the necessary infrastructure we need to preserve freedom and human rights.
